FAQ

What is your process ?

First step is to send us some pictures and dimensions of your project and get an estimate. When you have tentatively agreed to the estimated price, we will begin the fabric search and find what you want in the range you wish to budget for. Our estimate will provide for an average price on the fabric.

How much fabric do I need?

You can get a rough idea from this chart. Our estimates will generally include how much fabric we will need to purchase for your specific project, but patterns and the necessary repeats can only be determined once we know what they are. Every fabric is different.

Can I source my own fabric?

With a few exceptions – the answer is no. There is no warranty to the work or the fabric when you supply materials. We prefer to be involved in the decision making process so we can help you choose a fabric appropriate for the end use as well as giving you the benefit of fabric warranties offered by the fabric companies. You are making a significant investment in custom work, this is not really the place to cut corners. Many times the fabric you would supply is not truly upholstery fabric and will not stand up to the wear and tear and tension of being upholstered. Vintage fabrics in particular are often very problematic. Before purchasing fabric and assuming we will work with it – a conversation would definitely be required and we always reserve the right to say no. We have thousands of choices for you to consider, from very economical to very classic and high end.

Where can I look at the fabrics you offer?

With an appointment, we welcome you to come to our showroom to browse through our sample book library. With your project in mind, we have an extensive library and it’s easier for us to pre-select those books which will best suit your colours and project. You can also check out the digital libraries of any of our fabric partners. If you wish a fabric consult on its own, without any commitment to a project, we do charge for that service.

Do you work with leather?

Yes, we do lots of work with real leathers. Full and top grain leathers by the hide. We do not use manufactured or bonded leathers as they simply do not hold up to long-term wear. We have hundreds to choose from in many different finishes and colours. We also have many very high wear faux-leathers (PVC based) for hospitality etc.

How long does it take?

It depends entirely on the project. We book your project into the workshop when a deposit is paid and call or arrange for pickup when we are ready to DO the work so we have your project in the workshop for the shortest possible time.

How much of a deposit do you require?

50% of the estimate total is required to book projects into the workshop unless discussed otherwise in advance. Please see our more comprehensive details about deposits. The balance of your project will be billed upon completion and is due at pickup or delivery. For delayed deliveries the balance is due on completion in the workshop.
