Deposits-Custom Work Policy

Summary

We take a 50% Deposit to commence our Custom work, select and order fabrics and book projects into our workroom. Work has begun the moment you walk in the door or send us an email. A lot has already happened before we get your project to the shop. 

All re-upholstery, custom build and sewing work undertaken by Studio 1867 by it’s nature is CUSTOM. We must take apart and pattern new covers from the old, as we have no templates to reference. As such there is no project delivered to us which can be returned to you in its original state once the process is begun, unless agreed to in advance. 

Once a project is committed to and deposit paid – if cancelled there is a minimum consultation fee of $150 deducted. If fabrics have already been ordered, the whole price of the fabric including taxes will be charged against the deposit and you will receive the fabrics. Any refund would be limited to any remainder after fabric and consultation fee. If the fabric is not fully covered by the deposit, the balance owing would still apply if you want the fabric or the fabric would be forfeited with no refund.  

No returns or exchanges will be accepted if items are custom produced, custom sewn, including custom sized, custom coloured, custom printed or custom built, and ALL deposits are non-refundable once any shop work is commenced.
